Bleeker pays homage to robotic science

Staring on Saturday, Jonathan Mahood will be paying tribute to National Robotics Week with this comic Bleeker the Rechargeable Dog. It’s a natural fit due to the nature of the Bleeker character being a robotic dog that is also an iPod, cellphone, music player and computer.

“That was a springboard,” the 42-year-old artist and writer said of the six strips running next week that tie into National Robotics Week and show Bleeker taking part in education events about robo-technology. “That’s what my comic’s about: a robot trying to interact and mesh with his owner.”

Jonathan’s strip started in 2006 and began syndication in January through King Features Syndicate.
