Frankly, I think it looks great. As long as it’s as good as the first movie, I’ll be happy.

Did anyone else ever see the movie “Doc Hollywood” starring Michael J. Fox? Cars was basically that movie… but with cars. The writers didn’t take many creative leaps. I’m not going to hold out much hope for Cars 2. Perhaps we’ll get “Sleepless in Seattle”… but with cars…

To be fair, I don’t think this is Pixar “jumping the shark” as much as it is Pixar making a “money in the bank” movie while the economy is bad. Most adults won’t enjoy this movie on the same level as other Pixar films, but the kids will want to see it, and it will revive the merchandising surrounding the franchise.
For the record, I didn’t think the first Cars was a bad movie. It was just more heavily geared for kids. I’ve been to movies with my kids that I couldn’t WAIT to be over … Cars was a masterpiece compared to some of the movies I’ve suffered through.
I don’t know, I think this sequel looks to be at least as good as the first. Not high art, but a decent kids movie.
The worst Pixar or Dreamworks movie is still better than 90% of what gets made IMO.

And everyone who complains about legacy comic strips should now realize that milking cash cows is done across the creative spectrum. It is, after all, a business.
These animated movies are cute, but I don’t get too overly excited about many of them. If I feel like I’ve seen it all before, I think it’s because I have.
