Pogo first volume due out this fall

I wish more company execs were as blunt as Fantagraphic Books Co-Publisher Kim Thompson:

Anyway, a new year is upon and it’s time to ‘fess up about all the late Fantagraphics titles you were expecting to have by now, and don’t, because we suck. Specific apologia and weaseling have been added to some titles, others we just pass under mortified silence. 2011 will be better!

Bluntness aside, some late-coming titles are supposed to be released this year according to Thomopson including the first volume of Pogo (out of a series of 12), Popeye volume 5, and Krazy and Ignatz: 1919-1921 among others.

  1. Me want.

Is it my imagination, or is this the third attempt to launch a complete Pogo? Somewhere I have Vol. One from Fantagraphics
that has to be a good 17 years old.

  2. Ugh. Between this and the Carl Barks collections I should just tell the bank to start diverting my paychecks directly to Fantagraphics.

  3. …there is a Carl Barks collection coming out? I’ve been lusting after the old ones on ebay for years.

  4. I want this, and the IDW ‘Bloom County’ collection…but, I’m broke. 🙁

  5. Finally!!!! Something to trade my first born for…

  6. I’ve been waiting for this book to get released for a long, long, LONG time. It was supposed to come out in 2007.

Anyway, I would really like to get into Pogo. It’s influenced a lot of my favorite comic strips and books like Calvin & Hobbes and Bone.

  7. Speaking on Bone….let’s not forget the new series due out in February…. This is gonna be an expensive year!

  8. EXCELLENT! Not sure I care about Popeye but yay for the other two titles mentioned.
