Call for papers issued for graphic medicine conference

I received a note from Brian Fies (creator of Mom’s Cancer) who is helping to organize the second international conference on Graphic Medicine. He’s looking for presentations for a lecture, workshop or poster session on the theme of comics in the context of healthcare.

The event will be held in June and keynote speakers will be Scott McCloud, Phoebe Gloeckner and David Small.

Thanks, Alan! I appreciate the mention very much. I spoke at the first Graphic Medicine conference in London last year and thought it was a terrific mix of cartoonists, medical professionals, comics fans, journalists, etc. There’s a lot more info about the 2010 London conference, the 2011 conference we’re planning for Chicago June 9-11, and what the heck “graphic medicine” means at http://www.graphicmedicine.org.
