Auctions Editorial cartooning

Cartoons and Cocktails this Thursday

This year’s “Cartoons and Cocktails” will be held this Thursday. The annual event auctions off editorial cartoons donated by the top cartoonists in the country. The proceeds go to Young D.C. the independent newspaper by and for teenagers in the Washington Metropolitan area and the Cartoonists Rights Network International.

This year the auction will include about 150 editorial cartoons from 50 cartoonists – 14 of them Pulitzer winners. One of the cartoons on the auction block is a 1922 John T. McCutcheon from the Chicago Tribune. This year’s Pulitzer winner, Mark Fiore will be in attendance as is customary.
