Zunar allowed to challenge ban on his books

Zulkiflee Anwarul Haque’s, better known as Zunar, may have the ban on his latest two books lifted. Malaysiakini.com, his publisher, has been granted permission by the High Court to challenge the ban on two of his books. The publisher maintains that the books are collections of work that has already been published.

MKINI contended that the cartoons in the books had been published in the website for over two years and that the books were in circulation for three months before the seizure.

Sepakat Efektif said that the “Perak Darul Kartun” book had been in circulation for some six months since November 2009 and there were no reports received by the company at all of any threat to public order caused by the book.
