New exhibit featuring Florida cartoonists opens

A new exhibit of original artwork has opened in Ocala, Florida featuring 11 cartoonists from the state. The exhibit, which opened September 12 is entitled Florida Inkslingers: Cartoonists of the Sunshine State and runs through October 18. Featured cartoonists include: Tom Armstrong, Henry Boltinoff, James Casciari, Dick Giordano, Jim Ivey, Bob McLeod, Fran Matera, Jeff Parker, Don Perlin, Eddie Pittman, Dean Young and the exhibit coordinator Rob Smith, Jr.

The highlights of the exhibit are: An large oil painted caricature of Hugh Laurie by Dan Smith of Clearwater and one of the outstanding pages from ‘Superman vs. Muhammad Ali’, penciled by Neal Adams and inked by Dick Giordano of northeast Florida.

  1. Thanks for posting this, Alan! I guess I should’ve mentioned there are over 35 cartoonists and 53 original works of art in the show. Gee whiz, I should’ve noticed the omission! Next time I’ll have my author wife go over what I send in first. 🙂
