Cartoons Comic strips

Narrative Magazine looking to buy cartoons

Just received an email from the content supervisor at Narrative Magazine (online literary magazine). They are looking for submissions for unpublished single-panel cartoons, comics strips and serialized graphic novels. And they pay!

We welcome submissions of previously unpublished single-panel cartoons, comic strips, and serialized graphic novels, as well as alternative-format works that focus on the visual. We look for excellence in visual artistry as well as in storytelling and characterization. We are interested in traditional forms and innovation alike. Narrative accepts submissions in the visual arts year-round. As is the case for written works, our response time varies from four to twelve weeks, with the slowest times usually being August/September and December/January. There is currently no fee for submissions in the visual arts. We only accept online submissions.

You can get more information on their website.

  1. Say Allan, when you get done with your web project, perhaps you find out why when I load a page from the DC lately it keeps cycling until it finally places you at the bottom of the page, whether you want it to or not.

  2. Looks like you pay them $20 for the pleasure of submitting to them. Am I reading their web form incorrectly? Not at all a good deal if true.

  3. Rich: I read, “There is currently no fee for submissions in the visual arts.” Don’t see anything about paying $20. Where do you see that?

  4. man, I have been locked up and I have created a terrific comic strip I’m dying to show someone. Who can I show it to?

  5. Hey guys!! who has 20 bucks to fork over on each submission? I guess those people think the term “starving artist” is just a myth.

  6. Here it is, verbatim:

“Submission Fee: There is a $20 fee for each submission. And with your submission, you?ll receive three months of complimentary access to Narrative Backstage.”

This might be the Village Voice’s next step…

  7. So DO you or DON’T you have to pay $20 per each cartoon submitted?

    Steve

  8. I am making a zombie joke book that I would like to see how the world would say a out it. Email me where I can send you some of my work.
