  1. Reportedly Sean Penn has been signed to play Opus and Mickey Rourke will play Bill the Cat.-Can’t wait

  2. Zemeckis did a pretty good job with his motion capture film Polar Express, keeping the mood and feel of the original art in the book. Hopefully, he will do the same for Breathed’s work.

However, as with all children’s books turned film, stretching the brevity of a children’s book into a full lengh feature sometimes falls flat. Even Polar Express seemed very strained in areas. Hopefully that will not be the case with Mars Needs Moms

  3. Actually, Zemeckis is attached to produce the movie. According to the same Hollywood Reporter article, the director will be Simon Wells (H.G. Well’s great-grandson and the director of the 2002 version of “The Time Machine”.) I learned that Wells was also an animator on “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” as well as a storyboard artist on “Back To The Future III”, so this could be a very interesting adaptation.

  4. I still have doubts about stretching the book to fill out a full length feature script. How much input does Breathed have in that I wonder? If any?
