Mutts storyline to discuss Obama’s puppy adoption

Next week’s Mutts will delve into politics – or at least the topic of President-Elect Barack Obama’s choice for first pet. In his election night victory speech, Obama promised his daughters that they “have earned the new puppy that’s coming with [them] to the White House.” The story-line runs all week with Mooch and Earl discussing the Obama’s decision to buy a dog from an animal shelter. Mutts creator Patrick McDonnell has served on the board of directors of the National Humane Society since 2000 and has often used his strip to advocate animal rights, legislation and pet adoption.
