Betty Boop fan cruise planned for fall

A five day cruise from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas Mexico has been planned for fans of King Features’ Betty Boop. The cruise offers fans special events, Q&A sessions, screenings, parties, photo opportunities, collectible trading opportunities, a look-a-like contest, a chance to meet the Betty Boop creator’s grandson, and (I’m not making this up) a chance to “learn about the latest collectibles and Betty Boop apparel to look for in 2008 and 2009.”

The cruise is set for October 9-13 and it looks to me that it will cost about $400/person. For more information and to book you trip now, go visit the cruise’s official web site.

So, if Betty Boop can have her own fan cruise – what other comic strips would be worthy of a “cruise”? I’m thinking a whale schooner dripping with chum in the Bermuda Triangle for those Lio fans, or a cruise where you laze around and have cruise employees dressed as the sergeant in Beetle Bailey yell at you for doing so. I’m sure the possibilities are endless.

  1. I’d like to go on a Beetle Bailey cruise if Miss Buxley will be on board.

  2. This is a cool idea! I’m sure Betty’s fans will have a blast. Much more interesting than just a plain old cruise.

  3. Actually, Grim Natwick created Betty Boop. ‘Uncle’ Max produced ’em.
