Irwin “Cap” Caplan dies at age 88

Irwin “Cap” Caplan, who drew two nationally syndicated cartoons, Famous Last Words and 48 States of Mind in the 1960s has passed away at age 88 in Seattle Washington. Irwin was a NCS cartoonist of the year in 1972 in the advertising and illustration division. He went on to teach at University of Washington School of Art and at Seattle Central Community College.

He is survived by his wife madeline, his three children and five grandchildren. Services were held on Saturday.
