The News & Observer has announced that starting next Monday they will be adding Pearls Before Swine, Frazz, Edge City and Watch Your Head to their line up. Outgoing strips include, The Boondocks, Hagar the Horrible, Cathy and Drabble. Pearls, Frazz and Edge City will also run in the Sunday comics starting December 3rd.
Brian Crane, creator of Pickles, will be speaking at Western Nevada Community College on December 1st where he will speak about his comic strip and from whence he gets his inspiration.
From E&P is news that Tom Batiuk has won the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Hall of Fame Award for using his Funky Winkerbean character, Lisa’s, battle with cancer. The story of Lisa’s battle with cancer will run through next October.
E&P is reporting that United Media has sent out an advisory to clients of Stephan Pastis’ Pearls Before Swine that the December 2nd strip will use the term “bite me.” Those not wanting to run the strip will be given a rerun strip if they contact the syndicate.
Jan Eliot, creator of Stone Soup, will be one of six judges for the Talbot’s Women Scholarship Fund.
