Boondocks gets green light for 2nd season

“The Boondocks” has proved popular enough to warrant a second season on the Comedy Channel.

20 New Episodes of Hit Adult Swim Series to Debut Beginning in Winter 2006

Adult Swim has given the greenlight for a second season of The Boondocks, the new hit series from creator Aaron McGruder, based on his award-winning comic strip of the same name. The network has ordered 20 new episodes of the series, which is produced by McGruder’s production company, Rebel Base, in association with Sony Pictures Television.

Called ?brilliantly funny? and ?a water cooler series that lives up to the hype,? the series made its premiere on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005. It ranked as the best series premiere in Adult Swim history, and has consistently ranked among the top programs on basic cable each week among young adult viewers. This month, The Boondocks was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.

    “The second season of Boondocks was supposed to kick off later this year, but that’s no longer the case. Don’t worry fans, the show is still coming back for a second season, but creator Aaron McGruder says production is taking longer, and that they’re simply trying to make this season look better than last season. In other words, there’s no bitter contract disputes or any kind of in-fighting going on, McGruder just wants the show to look good. Waiting can be a bummer, but it sounds like once the new season begins in March of 2007, it’ll be well worth the wait for fans of the series. Oh yeah, and instead of fifteen new episodes, the network has ordered twenty. Until then, I guess we’ll just have to enjoy the DVD.”

  20. Man, we desperately need as viewers a start date for the new season. You gotta be prepared for this type of show you know. I’m talking about blocking dates off on your calendar, setting dvrs, dodging friends. And work you should never go to work when The Boondocks is on. Because “it’s funny on so many levels.” PLease PLEase PLEAse we want The Boondocks.

  25. this is not just a cartoon it shows anyone who has watched it culture it is funny beyond words but it truely speaks volume as well as truth as to america’s look on people of color heuy and rilley are trully black youth and grandad is doing his best to raise them it’s great and i wish the creator the best of luck with continued success i would continue buying the dvd’s even if the network had decline to bring the show back

  38. Boondocks is one of the most original and innovative cartoons, as well as television show out there. I have yet to be disappointed about the content and I find it rather hypocritical of Reginald Hudlin, now head of B.E.T. to be black balling The Boondocks when he was the Executive Producer of the show last season. He is doing to MacGruder what Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton tried to do both to Hudlin and Gruder last season when they aired “The Return of a King”!

    I am gonna pray to God that he let 2Pac come back for a day and smack Hudlin.
