Kenya Cartoonist Kibet Bull Abducted
Skip to commentsGideon Kibet (aka Kibet Bull), a university student, social media influencer and cartoonist who’s work has been critical of Kenyan President William Ruto, has been reported missing and is feared to have been abducted. His brother was disappeared four days earlier.
Kibet was last seen visiting presidential aspirant Okiya Omtatah on December 24. Today, Omtatah, acknowledged the meeting and said his security team noticed Kibet had been followed to his office. Due to the security concern, Omtatah had his driver drop Kibet off at the Kencom bus station in Nairobi where it was expected where he would board a bus to his brother’s place in Kikuyu.
Kibet visited my office on Tuesday, December 24, between 11am and 4pm. He came to introduce himself to me and to explore how he could join my team before his scheduled travel on Friday, December 27, to Israel to join Tel Aviv University for further studies.

“I strongly believe that Mr. Kibet was tracked and abducted by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations because, as soon as he arrived, my security informed me that they were monitoring a white Subaru, which was mounted with suspected spy communication gadgets used to intercept phone conversations.
The Kenyan Times reports that Kibet’s disappearance is one of many Ruto critics.
Recently, several social media users, particularly those vocal on platform X, were abducted after posting images deemed disrespectful to the President. Among those who remain missing are Benard Kavuli, Billy Mwangi, and Peter Muteti.
Their abductions have sparked widespread condemnation from various politicians, civil society groups, and religious leaders.
