The Walkley Foundation has announced the winners in this year’s Walkley Awards. This year’s Cartoon of the Year goes to Cathy Wilcox for her cartoon ‘Break glass’ for The Sydney Morning Herald.
This is Cathy’s fourth Walkley Award (2007, 2013, 2017, 2024). She is current president of Australian Cartoonists Association and according to her bio has drawing for The Sydney Morning Herald since 1989.
The Walkley Award is the most prestigious honor in Australian journalism, akin to the Pulitzer Prize in the U.S. The award recognizes excellence in broadcast, print, and digital journalism. Finalists for this year’s Cartoon of the Year included Matt Golding, Fiona Katauskas.
