NALC/USPS Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive

Saturday May 11, 2024 is Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive.

Each year, letter carriers across the country head out on their routes on the second Saturday in May to collect donations of non-perishable food items to benefit local food pantries. Since launching in 1993, the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive, helping to fill the shelves of food banks in cities and towns throughout the United States.

And every year the Keane family, first Bil now Jeff, provides a poster for the Letter Carrier’s drive.

It couldn’t be easier to do a small part to help curb hunger in your town:

Simply leave your donation of non-perishable food in a bag near your mailbox on the second Saturday in May, and your letter carrier will do the rest.

All collections stay in the local community.

  1. For more than a decade, Mondays and Wednesdays are my
    days to provide transportation for local families to get to and from
    various food pantries in my city.

    There are also five pantry boxes (outside a church and a school) that
    I keep stocked 24/7. It’s a good feeling. My garage and the back
    of my car are always full of boxes of canned goods, nuts, fresh
    produce and bottled water.

    (Pet peeve: People who think it’s charitable to donate mostly damaged or expired food items to pantries. That old box of mac and cheese and those dented, bloated cans of cream corn? Enjoy them yourself… or donate them to a dumpster.)

  2. I left 2 bags of non-perishable goods on Saturday, May 11th. The bags were never picked up.
