CNN Living posted an article called, “Real names of 23 fictional characters.” Since you’re a cartoonist, you’re probably expected to know certain facts that the general public doesn’t about various cartooning-related trivia, so file these two away for such a time when you can bust them out at the oohs and aaaawws of your non-cartooning friends.

4. In the Peanuts comic strip, Peppermint Patty’s real name is Patricia Reichardt

and

17. The unkempt Shaggy of Scooby-Doo fame has a rather proper real name — Norville Rogers.

  3. Jughead’s “real” name is Forsythe? Interesting. While I did know Shaggy’s name, I didn’t know Peppermint Patty’s name. Thanks!

  4. I remember winning at Trivial Pursuit once because I knew Zonker from Doonesbury’s real name was Edgar Harris.
