The New York Daily News began in 1919 and it took about two years for The New York Sunday News to appear. After about another two years, on February 25, 1923, the paper began running a Sunday color comics supplement.

These days the Sunday News comics section remains tabloid sized and in color. The eight pages have been reduced to five pages. But the Sunday comic supplement remains and after 100 years it continues to run Gasoline Alley (now by Jim Scancarelli and at half page size).
I grew up with Dick Tracy on the front page and Dondi on the back page. And read every single on in between.
