Cartoonist Dan Martin has ended the St. Louis Post-Dispatch comic Postcard from Mound City, his weekly editorial comment on local issues. Dan will maintain his daily front page presence at the paper with Weatherbird.
A few months ago The Daily Cartoonist celebrated the 25th anniversary of Postcards from Mound City with the wrong start date in a number of ways.
As Dan shows in the cartoon above the feature first appeared, though untitled, on December 25, 1996. The first time the title appeared is unknown by TDC (at least by June 27, 1997 when it was appearing about once a month). Beginning October 10, 1997 it started appearing closer to a weekly schedule though by no means regularly. Eventually it would become a weekly comic excepting when Dan went on vacation or paternity leave or the like.
We thank Dan for his local commentary and are happy to hear he will continue with Weatherbird.
