OSU Cartoon Library gifted $1 Million endowment

Ohio State University Cartoon Research Library has received an anonymous donation of $1 million to fund an endownment. Lucy Shelton Caswell told E&P that the money will be used to enhance “every aspect of our operations, from exhibition catalogs to the number of student employees we can hire.”

It’s money well needed with the addition of the International Museum of Cartoon Art collection that was announced in May, the OSU research library now has about 450,000 items.

  1. What wonderful news. Ohio is poised to be Cartoon Capital of the World.

  2. Congrats to Lucy, et al. A very nice cartooning resource!

  3. I think it would be beneficial to have the OSU go ‘on tour’ with a collection of some of their most famous works.

This would greatly benefit the cartooning profession by bringing much needed exposure to a decliing artform.

    I would visit it!
