Stay Tooned magazine profiled

The Clarion Ledger has a nice, lengthy article on John Read and the launch of his new quarterly magazine, Stay Tooned!.

While reading an autobiographical piece written by Marcus Hamilton, who was hired at age 50 by retiring Dennis the Menace creator Hank Ketcham, the bulb appeared.

Just as Hamilton began drawing Dennis dailies at age 50, Read thought it might be possible for him to pick up where Hurd left off. His idea? Revive the cartoonist profile magazine, bringing back shop talk interviews and short biographies that were the staple of Cartoonist PROfiles’ 36-year history.

You can purchase copies of the magazine on its web site.

  1. As stated before in previous comment threads: Good job John! Everyone appreciates, supports and loves your endeavors with Stay Tooned, I’m sure.

  2. I’m about 3/4ths through my copy, very interesting stuff. I have to say not only great job to John Read, but R.C. Harvey, your writing style is a hoot! I really enjoyed the recap of the Festival of Cartoon Arts (since I was able to go to most of it, it made the article even funnier), and your other article(s).
