Family Circus goes into thematic re-runs

Starting this week through August 25th, Bil and Jeff Keane’s Family Circus (dailies and Sundays) will be re-running favorite vacation panels from the last 30 years as the two work ahead of deadline. The strips will appear as they did when they were first printed with slight modifications to bring them up to the 21st century (like adding seat belts on the kids).

From the Tulsa World we learn that the comic selections were made by Bil.

Actually, when the 84-year-old looked back over the more than 30-year-old comic strip, he still got a kick out of it, he said.

“So many years have gone by, so I had forgotten what some of the lines were,” he said in a telephone interview from his home in Arizona.

In a way, looking back at the vacation series is sort of like flipping through a photo album for Keane because, as he said, “Almost everything that happens in the cartoon has happened in our own family.”

  1. Today’s “PEANUTS” is copyright is 1994 but that’ recent compared to other dates I’ve seen under a loop. With FBoW in re-runs, I sense a theme. What’s next in the cutting edge of newspapers?
