I wasn’t aware that George Herriman had produced anything except Krazy Kat, but the Strippers Guide had a post with an example of Herriman’s comic Stumble Inn.
Oh, what a great strip. Herriman’s Stumble Inn ran 10/30/1922-1/9/1926. For those of you who love Herriman’s artwork but consider Krazy Kat a little high-falutin’ for your tastes, this one you’ll really love.
Krazy Kat? no thanks, liked the art for it’s period, but the dialog was to amuse the monster of that day William Randolph Hearst , so forget about it, Stumble Inn, had even better art, but apparently it wasn’t sophisticated enough for Billy”the Bully”Hearst, so Herriman whimp’d along, most did back then, but “Krazy Kat “?… no , not worth the paper it was drawn on. Oh sue-do cartoon critics make a big deal about how to interrupt it, but For-get about it. It was for the unsophisticated mass’s , thank you very much , give me a break, or was that a brick
