Ink Pen optioned for animated film

Universal Press has announced the Phil Dunlap’s Ink Pen has been optioned to be developed into an animated film. Phil’s cartoon is barely a year old and is now in 50 newspapers. The movie would be produced by Jason Korrnick who is the executive producer of the upcoming movie “Next” staring Nicholas Cage and Julianne Moore. He’s also brought in Gabe Abelson and Scott Sonneborn. Gabe has written for “The Tonight Show”, “The Late Show,” “The Late Late Show” and many other late-night talk shows. Scott has written for “Beavis & Butthead” and “The Legion of Super-Heroes”.

“Jason is a true fan,” says Dunlap. “He gets the characters and the concept and wants to see it done right. And Scott and Gabe have already brought some great ideas for how to expand this little four-panel world onto the screen, so I’m confident they can all make an awesome movie that also stays true to the strip.”
