Columbia University Libraries has announced they have acquired the archives of famed MAD Magazine cartoonist Al Jaffee. The donation will include “artwork for Esquire and Playboy magazines, notebooks of ideas for Humbug and Ziggy Pig and Silly Seal, press clippings, tracings for cartoons in The Moshiach Times, fan mail, photocopies of strips never offered for publication, biographical materials used for Mary-Lou Weisman?s biography Al Jaffee?s Mad Life, photographs and more.”
Jaffee’s has been contributing to MAD Magazine for 58 years.
Now I’m really sorry I didn’t go for that Masters in Library Science.
Should be well worth a visit…
Too far for me unfortunately…
“Is this where the Al Jaffee archive is being kept?”
“No, it’s where the archives of the Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions guy is being kept.”
