Bil Keane memorial statue now funded

From the Arizona Republic:

Hamway said that since an Arizona Republic article about the looming deadline was published March 23, at least one large donation has come in, putting fundraising above the minimum goal of $75,000. Hamway said the fundraising effort also was helped by coverage of the fundraising effort in other media.

Manya Long, daughter of John F. Long, a prominent homebuilder in the 1950s and ?60s, donated $20,000.

About $23,000 was needed to reach the minimum goal with about a month to go.

In addition, an anonymous donation is pending, which would pay for more features to complement the statue, including lighting and landscaping.

The anonymous donor has a charitable foundation, Hamway said, which contacted her to make the donation.

This is great news. I was worried there that this wouldn’t get funded. Congratulations to the Keane family and the town of Paradise Valley and thank you to the Long family and the anonymous donor!
