Zunar to defy Malaysia ban on election caricatures

Malaysia cartoonist Zulkiflee Anwar Haque (AKA Zunar) says he has no intention of obeying the recent declaration by the Maylasian Election Commission banning caricatures from this year’s election.

Zunar speaking to the Free Malaysia Today:

“Cartoons are legal in Malaysia. Nobody said that cartoons are illegal…Who is the EC to decide whether [political cartoons] are serious or not serious, satire or not?” he told FMT in an interview.

  1. I just hope that his defiance of the election commission banning caricatures doesn’t result in something like the trouble some cartoonists have faced in recent months.

  2. AG, Thanks for posting this. It deserves to be followed and he deserves our support.

  3. Yes, agree with Mike. Thank you, Alan.
