Yesterday was Prince Valiant’s 75th birthday. The strip was created by Hal Foster in 1937. Hal was authoring the popular Tarzan comic strip when he was invited to create his new strip by William Randolph Hearst who distributed it through his syndicate King Features.
The strip has since been adapted in many forms. It was made into a feature film in 1954 and an animated show on the Family Channel in 1991. In 1997 a live-action version was released in England.
I loved last Sundays Prince Valiant strip where M. Schultz and G. Gianni played tribute to Hal Foster by including him in the last panel. 75 years of wonderful stories and art.
Foster was the greatest illustrator in comic strip history, for my $$.
Has anybody seen that live action flick from 1997?
