Introducing Guess that Draw Something
As I mentioned earlier, Draw Something is a new app that has become quite popular – one of the most played apps in the iTunes App Store (there is an Android version). Think of it as Pictionary with a friend on a phone (or an iPad). I asked a few notable cartoonists to play the [...]

Starting tomorrow, I’m kicking off a game here on The Daily Cartoonist. I’m sure many of you have heard of the app Draw Something (free and paid versions of iPad/iPhone and Android devices). Think of it as Pictionary on your phone with a friend. According to one source it took AOL nine years to acquire [...]

Donation drive results: I’ve got the best readers in the blogosphere
As many of you are aware last week I ran my annual donation drive with a goal of raising the equivalent of $7.25 (minimum wage) for the work I do here on the blog. When the dust had settled my readers donated the equivalent of $4.77. A bit shy of the goal, but it surpassed [...]

Results from second day of the fund drive
Another big thanks to everyone that donated yesterday. Typically each ensuing day of the drive the donations drop, but yesterday the drop wasn’t as big as I expected. I’ve also updated the “check” to reflect yesterday’s giving. The equivalent compensation is now $2.45/hr (I over-reported yesterday’s as $1.45 but it should have been $1.33). Here [...]

First day fund drive results
Yesterday I kicked off the annual donation drive with the goal to raising the equivalent of a minimum wage compensation ($7.25/hr). At the end of the yesterday I tallied it up, divided by the estimated number of hours per year and came up with $1.45/hour. Which isn’t bad as that is approximately 20% of the [...]

About the 2011 Donation Drive
I skipped the donation drive last year. I spent quite a lot of time reflecting if the blog was the best use of my time. Quite honestly for several weeks I considered walking away – even going as far as researching how to sell the blog and writing a draft announcing that it was going [...]

The Daily Cartoonist turns 6 years old; still running typos like a 1st grader
Just a quick announcement. My wife reminded my last night that The Daily Cartoonist turned 6 years old. The date’s a bit fuzzy. The first blog post was on October 5 – but that was on a free blogging account on Blogger. I purchased the domain on the 14th with the first news story soon [...]

The Future of The Daily Cartoonist
I’ve dropped hints here and there that major changes were afoot here at The Daily Cartoonist. I want to take this opportunity to communicate what changes are coming and why. I created the blog five years ago as a means of better understanding where comics were heading – more specifically syndicated comic strips and editorial [...]
