Cartoonist Rights Network announces Impunity contest
Cartoonist Rights Network has announced a new contest sponsored by IFEX, an international network of free expression groups. Entitled the Draw Attention to Impunity: Editorial Cartoon Contest, this cartoon contest is part of the second annual International Day to End Impunity on November 23, 2012. Some of the entries will be featured on the International Day to End Impunity website, and the top three winners will receive cash prizes.
From the announcement:
Journalists, photographers, musicians, writers, human rights defenders and others continue to be sued, threatened, attacked and even murdered with impunity in countries like Mexico, Russia, Iraq and Somalia for simply practicing their right to free expression. In our free expression community, impunity consistently ranks among the top concerns and remains a global issue that has defied all borders and political structures.
The deadline for entries is November 4, 2012. See their website for details.
