Batiuk to release Complete Funky Winkerbean collection

Funky Winkerbean creator Tom Batiuk will be releasing the first volume of a Complete Funky Winkerbean collection this year. The collection is being released to coincide with the feature’s 40th anniversary. The first volume will contain cartoons from the years 1972-1974. At the time Tom was a jr. high school art teacher and the carton was first published in Elyria Chronicle-Telegram.

According to the Canton Repository, the first volume will include an autobiographical introduction by Tom and information about how the strip became syndicated. RC Harvey has written the preface. Additional volumes will be released every three years.

Books can be pre-ordered through Kent State’s Atlas Books.

So, each volume covers three years, three years between volumes, FORTY MORE YEARS to cover the first forty years? Please tell me I misinterpreted something!

The info here is wrong. According to KSU press’ website, “Subsequent volumes will each contain three years of Funky comic strips and will be published annually.”
