Terrible events happen. Not really, it’s just Gil

A bit off topic, but a source of befuddled humor this morning. I use a lot of Google Alerts to find news of interest for the blog. As I was quickly going through the list I noticed several headlines from The Journal News (NY) about horrible events but all mentioned the newly launched Gil comic. In an unfortunate mashup, Google injected the news of Gil’s launch into the abbreviated lead paragraph creating an appearance that The Journal News was using shock headlines to trick you into reading about Norm Feuti’s new strip.

Here’s the five examples.

I’m lucky, no Chicago newspaper has run Gil as of yet.
