HeroesCon panel: Taking over a legendary comic strip

At this year’s HeroesCon Mike Rhode moderated a panel of cartoonists Jim Scancarelli (Gasoline Alley), Marcus Hamilton (Dennis the Menace), Alex Saviuk (Spider-man) and Joe Staton (Dick Tracy) on the topic taking over an established, classic comic strip.

Here’s the link to the audio of the panel. I was unable to get it to play, but maybe it was just my machine. Interesting topic, however.

I found it very interesting, listening to people whose work I’ve enjoyed for many years. In discussing “Gasoline Alley,” Jim Scancarelli is right on the money if he means that he’s the third artist to helm the strip, but he’s actually the fifth artist to work on it. Bill Perry drew the Sunday page for some 25 years, then Bob Zschiesche did the Sunday page for an additional three.
