Shannon Wheeler’s rejected New Yorker cartoons coming to print
BOOM! Town, a new imprint of BOOM! Studios, announced they will be printing a collection of rejected cartoons submitted to The New Yorker by cartoonist Shannon Wheeler entitled I Thought You Would Be Funnier.
Regarding the volume Shannon says, “This is some of the best work I’ve ever done.”

No doubt. What are the odds that rejected NYer cartoons are actually the funny ones!?

Very high. I’ve seen Shannon’s rejects. If the New Yorker ran nothing but his rejects, their quality would quadruple overnight.

shoot – I can’t complain. They picked up 5 of my cartoons last year. Not too shabby for my freshman year submitting cartoons. The ones they picked weren’t too bad – if I say so myself.

It also depends on what your idea of “funny” is. Shannon always makes me laugh but I can’t say the same of the NYer.
