OSU Cartoon library to exhibit work of Sam Milai
The Ohio State University’s Cartoon Research Library is running an exhibit on Sam Milai, an editorial cartoonist for the influential African American newspaper the Pittsburgh Courier for 33 years. Most of Sam’s work was believed to been destroyed in a fire, but his granddaughter found some in a suitcase in her mother’s attic and donated them to the library. Sam’s work captures the sense of “hopes and the frustrations that the African American community experienced during the 1960s”
The exhibit is now open and runs through the end of the year.
