Bob Bierman passes at ag 86
British Columbia cartoonist Bob Bierman has passed away at the age of 86. Bob was the cartoonist for the Victoria Daily Times from 1962 to 1972. He left the paper after a newspaper strike and began work for the government. He was sued for libel in 1978 by a British Columbia cabinet member for a drawing depicting him plucking wings from flies. The court sided with the government official stating the the cartoon was defamatory, but the case was eventually settled by The B.C. Court of Appeal overturned the decision in 1980 in Bob’s favor.
