Reuben Award Nominees for cartoonist of the year announced
Just got a tip that this year’s NCS Reuben Award Nominees for Cartoonist of the Year are: Dan Piraro, Dave Coverly, and Al Jaffee.
Dan is the creator of Bizaro and is syndicated through King Features. Dave is the creator of Speed Bump, syndicated through Creators, and Al is a longtime contribute to MAD magazine.
More information to come I’m sure.

Good for all three cartoonists. While Bill Amend certainly deserved his Reuben last year, Coverly and Piraro (who were the other two cartoonists in the running) have distinguished themselves as two of the best out there. Al Jaffee is a great cartoonist as well, with a very recognizable art style.
So, did they announce just the Reuben nominees, or did they get around to announcing who’s in the running for the other three categories?

“So, did they announce just the Reuben nominees, or did they get around to announcing who’s in the running for the other three categories?”
Or rather, “the other categories.” I don’t know why I typed “three.” Some sort of subconscious Freudian thought process, no doubt.
