Doug Marlette is still receiving awards, exhibits
Doug Marlette has received another award for his second fictional novel “Magic Time.” The novel was awarded the 2007 Sir Walter Raleigh Award for the best work of fiction by a North Carolina writer by the The N.C. Literary and Historical Association. In addition to the award, the University of Mississippi has opened an exhibit of his cartoons (runs through January, 2008) as did the Museum of the New South in Charlotte, NC (runs through April 13, 2008).
Doug, the Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist, died this last summer in an auto accident.

Yeah, he was very good. It’s tragic what happened. I think the fact that he died traveling back from his father’s funeral makes it all the sadder.
