Pat Oliphant releases new book on George W’s presidency
The Kansas City Star takes a look at Pat Oliphant, who at age 72, has no plan to retire and has released a new book entitled: “Leadership: Cartoons & Sculpture From the Bush Years” which as you can read from the title, contains cartoons and photos of sculptures of George W. Bush.
Regarding caricaturing politicians he says:
“You don’t want to be egregious, but you do look for things that typify the person.”
The process takes time, which is why Oliphant doesn’t seem fond of those pesky elections we keep having.
“I hate changes in administrations. All my villains have been in place, and it takes about six months to establish a new character - or caricature. My early drawings of Bush II almost looked human! But he’s shrunk to Carter size now.”
