Steve Benson wins Scripps Howard National Journalism Award

Arizona Republic editorial cartoonist Steve Benson has been awarded the Scripps Howard Foundation’s National Journalism Award for editorial cartooning. Steve takes home a hefty $10,000 and a trophy. His portfolio included cartoons regarding “the Iraq War, the tragedy of Darfur, lobbyist influence at the White House, bigotry and the failure of response to Katrina.”

UPDATE: I just noticed that the finalist for this award were Mike Luckovich and Jim Morin.
