State of Washington honors former editorial cartoonist

The Washington state legislature passed a resolution honoring the memory of the late editorial cartoonist Bob McCausland who spent more than 30 years as the editorial cartoonist for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and then another 30 years after retirement doing cartoons for the Daily World. Bob died last year at age 90.

The motivation for the resolution is explained by Representative Brian Blake:

Blake thought it was only right that the state honor both Bob and Ruth, who had been married for 65 years.

“They are two extraordinary people who gave our state and community so much,” he said on the floor of the House. “His murals are everywhere up and down the coast.

“There’s many politicians who every Sunday would turn to the paper and look at his editorial cartoons first,” he added.
