Comic Art exhibit to explore relationship between comics and high art
For those in the Lincoln Nebraska area, there is an exhibit beginning on February 9 at University of Nebraska-Lincoln will feature art from Chris Ware, Enrique Chagoya, Jon E. Gierlich and S. Clay Wilson, Red Grooms and Krazy Kat creator George Herriman.
The focus of the exhibit is about the relationship between comic art and high art. See web site for dates, times, locations.

This is a topic that has interested me for years. Since the pop masters (Warhol, Lichtenstein, et al) started the pop art revolution of the 60’s, comics have steadily risen into the realm of high art. Since then other artists such as Basquiat, Keith Haring, John Wesley, and Romero Britto (to name a few) have continued to expand the parameters of the cartoon form.
