John Branch wins Katie Award
San Antonio Express-News editorial cartoonist John Branch was awarded a Katie Award for best editorial cartoon for his September 2005 cartoon entitled “Katrina pass-the-blame game” which depicted President Bush, New Orlean’s Mayor Ray Nagin and Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco tossing a sand bag around (labeled blame) while the levee behind them continues to pour out water. John has been with the Express-News since 1981.
The Katies are given out by the Press Club of Dallas for outstanding work in journalism, advertising and public relations.
