Portsmouth Herald comic survey results posted
The Portsmouth Herald has posted the results of their comic survey with 502 respondents. The article did provide the score for all of their features, but this is what I’ve put together based on what numbers were given (ordered by positive number of votes). The score after the feature title is positive/negative votes.
For Better or For Worse (258/28)
Peanuts (132/21)
Doonesbury (128/159)
Zits (127/na) - Added to the Sunday comics page
Dilbert (122/130)
Stone Soup (115/na) - Added to the Sunday comics page
Blondie (99/115)
Cathy (29/103) - Dropped
Mallard Filmore (17/119) - Dropped
Nancy (6/74) - Dropped
B.C. (19/28) - Dropped
Ziggy (5/39) - Dropped
Rose is Rose (26/53) - Dropped
Born Loser (18/40) - Dropped
Frank and Earnest (30/56) - Dropped
Marmaduke (11/45) - Dropped
Lio - Added to the Sunday comics page
On a Claire Day - Added to the Sunday comics page
The editor mentions that Lio and On a Claire Day were unsolicited requests for additions to the line-up. The paper’s new TV guide format was larger than the previous which is why so many other features were dropped.

I would have to agree for the most part with the ones dropped from the paper. Most of them were due for retirement.
It’s funny how when a TV sitcom looses it’s humor/appeal it will get axed before you can blink but a comic strip will stay around decade after decade, like a zombie house guest; You can’t kill it and it stinks having it around.

Well, the comics they dropped are actually lousy anyway. These readers have good taste.

I wouldn’t say lousy. More way past their prime.
