Edward Colley injured in car crash
Editorial cartoonist and “‘Suburban Cowgirls” artist Edward Colley was taken to the hospital after a serious car crash earlier this week.
Newspaper cartoonist Edward Colley was hospitalized in fair condition following an accident at noon yesterday.
Colley, 68, of Holmes Street, was injured when his car collided with a pickup truck on County Road at about noon.
Firefighters cut the roof of his 1994 Toyota to free him. He was flown to Boston Medical Center.
The other driver, Peter Ward, 20, of Main Street, was not injured and was able to drive the Dodge truck away, police said.
Colley was pulling out of West Washington Street onto County Road (Route 14) when his car was broadsided by the truck, police said.
The crash remained under investigation today, and no citations had been issued.
An artist and a former art teacher at Whitman-Hanson High School, Colley was a cartoonist for the MPG Newspapers in Plymouth for many years and now works for Globe South. For several years he drew the syndicated comic strip ‘‘Suburban Cowgirls.’’
