How does a slumping newspaper industry impact comic strips?
In the last couple o’ days there have been some newspaper industry news (Knight Ridder may go on another cutting spree; New York Times Company earnings down 40% last quarter; Wall Street thinks news print businesss is dead) and when newspapers need to cut expenses an editorial cartoonist is shown the door.
I’ve always wondered how all of this impacts the comic strip? Of you visiting professionally syndicated comic strippers (especially if you’ve been around for a while) - has any of this impacted you? Are newspapers cutting the number of comic features they run? What’s the trend for comic strips?
