Signe Wilkinson celebrates the life of Benjamin Franklin
Signe Wilkinson, editorial cartoonist for the Philadelphia Daily News, took part in a birthday celebration commemorating the 300th anniversary of Benjamin Franklin’s birth.
Today, we celebrate the 300th birthday of Philadelphia’s most famous citizen, with festivities throughout the city, most notably at the National Constitution Center, where a giant cake with 300 candles will be lit.
Among the candle-lighters is Daily News editor Michael Days and editorial cartoonist Signe Wilkinson, who makes the point that 300 candle-lighters from various walks of life were needed to equal the life and accomplishments of one man.
