Scott Nychay takes third in Suburban Newspapers of America contest
A bit late in coming with this one. Scott Nychay, of the Northwest Herald, recently took third place in editorial cartooning in the 2005 Suburban Newspapers of America contest.
The local television station did a follow up about Scott and how he fell into cartooning.
Scott Nychay calls himself “basically a visual columnist.” His skills with pen and ink help us see humor and irony in the day’s headlines.
Nychay, 35, says getting into the editorial cartoonists’ trade is harder than getting into professional sports. He says there are only 80 to 90 cartoonists for papers nationwide.
