Oliphant to judge ‘Nude International’
The Lexington Art League has a yearly exhibit of international artists drawing the nude figure. Nationally syndicated editorial cartoonist Pat Oliphant was a judge and will be speaker.
For the Nude International 2006 exhibit, Patrick Oliphant, Pulitzer-prize winning editorial cartoonist, anonymously juried 832 entries. Mr. Oliphant selected the 106 displayed artworks. From the classics to the controversial, you may find yourself asking the timeless “What is art?” question, and you may not come up with an easy answer. The LAL strongly supports the independence of the juror selection process; all works in the exhibit were chosen by the juror.
This Saturday (4 - 6 p.m.), Patrick will also speak about his career.
Patrick Oliphant, and his wife, gallery owner Susan Conway, will discuss Mr. Oliphant’s career as a Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist and figurative artist. They will take questions from the audience, while Mr. Oliphant sketches. Free for LAL members, $5 for non-members. Space is limited, for reservations call (859) 254-7024.
